Lies Van de Vijver is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Communication Studies at Ghent University where she is a member of the Centre for Cinema and Media Studies (CIMS) and is responsible for the coordination of the Health, Media & Society research centre.
Van de Vijver was a visiting professor at the University of Antwerp (2014-2015) and is currently a Visiting Research Academic in the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment at Oxford Brookes University (2017-2020).
Van de Vijver has worked on various media historical research projects since 2005, and has recently focused on the impact of research projects. In 2012 she was the project manager for the Creative Urban Renewal in NW Europe project (Utrecht School of the Arts). Her areas of research are New Cinema History, film studies, audience studies, digital humanities and comparative research for which she has been awarded a British Academy Leverhulme Small Research Grant (2015-2017), and coordinates the FWO funded Digital Cinema Studies-DICIS Network (2014-2018) and HoMER Network (2014-2016).
